Our Mission
Connecting kids and building relationships that change lives by providing programs that offer a consistent, safe, and predictable environment where youth can experience unconditional love, meaningful support, and hope for the future.
At REACH Western Connecticut, we believe even one consistent, caring relationship can change the trajectory of a young person’s life. We create safe, predictable environments where youth feel seen, supported, and valued—surrounded by mentors who show up, listen, and believe in them. Through that foundation, young people build confidence, develop life skills, and begin to see what’s possible for their future.
Who we are
Founded in 2011, REACH Western Connecticut began with a simple belief: Relationships can change the course of a young person’s life. What started as a small effort to support local youth has grown into a year-round community serving more than 150 young people across Western Connecticut—providing consistent support during the moments they need it most.
Who we serve
REACH is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving more than 150 underserved youth across Western Connecticut. Our focus is on providing enriching programs for kids in Newtown, Bethel, Danbury, and all surrounding areas. All programs are provided at no cost to families—removing financial barriers and ensuring every child has access to the support, experiences, and opportunities they deserve.
Our vision
A future where every young person feels connected, supported, and equipped with the confidence and skills to thrive—in school, in life, and in their community.
Our values
Relationships
Strong, consistent relationships are the foundation for growth and lasting change.

We create environments where youth feel safe, supported, and respected.
Opportunity and access
Every young person deserves access to meaningful experiences and support.
Growth and resilience
We foster confidence, perseverance, and personal responsibility.
Belonging
We build inclusive spaces where every child feels seen and valued.
Why REACH?
For many of the young people we serve, consistent support is hard to find. REACH provides something different: a safe place to belong, trusted relationships, and a community they can count on. Through mentorship, structure, and shared experiences, youth build confidence, strengthen relationships, and develop the emotional and social skills needed to navigate life’s challenges. We also remove barriers that stand in the way—providing meals, transportation, and access to opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.

Long-term impact
Change takes time—and consistency.
Youth can begin with REACH in fourth grade and stay through twelfth grade, building lasting relationships and support systems during the most critical years of development.
This long-term approach helps young people grow academically, socially, and emotionally—while preparing for life after high school, whether that means college, trade school, or a career path.
